A good end to the year with Fairfax making Horse & Hound, yet again! She was featured in the "Review of the Year 2011" with a fabulous photo of her and Tony in the pouring rain at Royal Norfolk!

AmaZulu arrived at her new home in South Africa after two months of quarantine. Her new owners are Saratoga Stud situated in the beautiful Natal Midlands in the Karkloof Valley. They are so pleased with her and think that she is absolutely spectacular!

Robert and Otis had a fabulous day out with the BV (Blackmore & Sparkford Vale) when the meet was nextdoor in Stoke Trister. The weather was not kind when they met but no sooner had they moved off, the rain stopped. They arrived home just as it was getting dark with Otis looking a lot less clean than when he left home!
Fabulous news from Fairfax's owner - she is being a really good girl and is going well under saddle!
It has taken a while to share the news as we are all feeling the loss. Our wonderful Conan aged 15½ years old passed away in August and has left a massive hole in our lives. He was the most wonderful dog, with a golden temperament and was a fabulous companion. We are all still missing him.
Robert and Otis enjoyed a day with the Mendip Farmers meeting at Ston Easton Manor.
Robert and Otis having a "moment", well sharing a Polo, I think!
Francisca and Firecrest have been weaned and are adjusting to life as "grown ups".

Fairfax has moved to her fabulous new home.
Dinah saying goodbye!
We had tremendous fun with Fairfax and we are very excited about seeing her under saddle in the near future!
Walking past her rosettes in the kitchen every day will always be a lovely reminder of our many successes with her.

We have a fabulous new member to join our family in the shape of Lissyegan Roan Rebel, a pure Irish Draught gelding who goes by the every day name of "Otis".
He has settled in really well with the plan of Robert hunting him with the Mendip Farmers with the odd day with the B&SV. Dinah will be doing all the fittening and flat work as well as turning him out for Robert just to climb on aboard at the meet!

We had our annual jaunt to Padstow in Cornwall with Ann and Tony. As usual, it included our meal at Rich Stein's, which was fabulous, as always. This year the dogs came along also and we had great fun on the beach with them!

Florida's son, Sir Cisco continues to get noticed .... not only just because of his colour, but because his performance record!
has a nice picture and write up in the German magazine St Georg after his success at the Bundeschampionate.
Sir Cisco also makes the front cover for the month of October for the Mecklenburg Verband magazine!
Fairfax will be leaving Camrose shortly to go to her fabulous new home and the next chapter of her life begins.
Although tinged with much sadness that she is leaving us, we are extremely excited about her future career under saddle and are sure that she will keep flying the flag for Camrose.

The annual Oldenburg Verband foal inspection took place at Camrose Stud on 22 September with some outside mares and foals also visiting. It was enjoyable to see Dr Karsten Kühl and Lois Allard from the Oldenburg Verband.
We are absolutely thrilled that both our foals received the coveted Oldenburg Premium Foal Award!
Dr Karsten Kühl was extremely taken with Firecrest (St Moritz Junior) and said that she had a fantastic, powerful hind leg, free shoulder, good knee action with a lovely top line and neck set and said that she was as good as it gets - so we were extremely pleased!
He also thought a lot of Francisca (Royal Classic), even though she is just so big at the moment but he was very pleased with her overall type and movement. It is going to take a little while for her to grow into herself.
Fairfax graded into the main mare Oldenburg Studbook, so we were delighted. Karsten was very impressed with her and commented on her fabulous top line, elegant neck, powerful hind leg and free moving shoulder. He said that she was a fabulous mare and a real step forward in the world of warmblood coloured breeding.
It was also very nice to see our

Our homebred AmaZulu who we sold in 2008 was sadly back on the market. Her owner asked whether we could find a new home for her and we are delighted that we have found a fabulous new home for her in South Africa.

We enjoyed a jolly to the BSPA National Championships at Peterborough and Fairfax did us proud! She won her Warmblood class then took the Championship for the Breeding Showcase.
In the Supreme Championship, she then took the honours of "Filly of the Year" along with "Supreme Youngstock 2011" title.

Florianne has scanned in foal to Levisonn (Levisto - Lennon - Roman) for 2012.
Fair Oaks is looking super so wanted to get some nice pictures of her. She thoroughly enjoyed being on the school but wasn't too impressed about posing in the garden!

On their bi-annual visit to the UK, Florianne's breeders visited us to see Florianne, Francisca and Hussar. They were very pleased to see Florianne and were impressed with both Francisca and Hussar.
It was a fun afternoon playing with horses, catching up on all the news of Florianne's family, talking stallions and bloodlines!

Hussar continues to please us as he matures and is such a nice boy to have around.
Francisca and Firecrest are growing up nicely and are changing by the week.
It is nice to keep a record of them by taking regular photographs of them and it is interesting to compare them to their siblings at the same ages.

Florida's son, Sir Cisco, has qualified in eventing for the Bundeschampionate in September 2011 in Germany. A feat that he managed in onlyã weeks with top scores which can only bode well.
He is the first and only coloured warmblood stallion to be approved on performance and he is now Life Approved.
In fact, he started the ball rolling when he was the first coloured foal to be accepted in the Warmblood studbook with the Mecklenburg Verband. His mother, Florida E, was also the first coloured mare to be accepted in the Warmblood mare studbook. He was the first and only coloured foal to be accepted by the Elite auction, thanks to be awarded 9 for his gaits.
Bundeschampionate Qualifier results:
13.4.11 (Class A) Won out of 75 horses - score 8.9
23.4.11 (Class L) 2nd out of 10 horses - 8.3 score
24.4.11 (Class A) 2nd out of 10 horses - 8.3 score
1.5.11 (Open Class) 10th out of 45 horses
12.5.11 (Class A) Won out of 20 horses - score 8.6
In order to qualify for the 5-year-old Bundeschampionate finals in eventing, the horse must have two starts in Class A with a score of 8.0; one start in Class L with over 7.0 and then are required to be placed in an Open competition.
It was a first visit to Royal Norfolk and what a lovely show.
Fairfax was Coloured Champion and much to our delight, she went Sport Horse Champion too!
Francisca and Firecrest are blossoming and we are really pleased with both of them.

Florida has scanned in foal to Samaii (Sambertino - Brentano II - Wenzel II) for 2012.
Fairfax had another successful Bath & West show. She was Reserve Sport Horse and then Champion Coloured for the third year running. In the Cuddy she was, yet again, pulled forward for the final 6 in judging but the elusive ticket was still out of reach!
She had a lovely write up again in the local newspaper and a good write up in Horse & Hound too.
Fair Oaks enjoying time in the field together with her sister Fairfax who loves to let her hair down when not in the show ring!
We are scanning and re-breeding with the mares so it is a busy time for us.
Firecrest and Francisca are growing on nicely and their personalities are certainly coming out as they grow more confident!
Hussar is maturing well, particularly for a yearling and is such a lovely natured boy.
Fairfax went to Devon County and was Champion Coloured as she was last year. She was in the Cuddy again and was forward for the final six.
Both the fillies have ventured outside to find their feet and get some sunshine!
Florianne has finally given us a filly and we have named her Francisca C.
By Royal Classic she was born at 8.45pm on 27 April and we couldn't be more delighted!
Firecrest at 2 days old.
Florida produced an outstanding chestnut filly by St Moritz Junior in the early hours of Easter Sunday. Our newest addition has been named Firecrest C and we are absolutely delighted with her.
Fairfax - day after her first show - from show ring to au naturale!
Fairfax went to the West Midlands Show at Malvern, her first show of the season where she stood Champion Coloured and was First Reserve in the Cuddy's!
Bourbon just loved being back at a show and was extremely pleased when someone donated their ice cream to him - don't think it is really on his diet sheet somehow!
"Maggie" my special pony who started my love of coloureds sadly passed away aged 25.
I had her since she was a two year old when we rescued her and she came as companion to my Thoroughbred. She had been badly mistreated and not surprisingly not very trusting, particularly of large men. I promised then that she would never find herself in that situation again and she in turned rewarded many, many people with the joy of being part of her life.
She ended up being so much more than just the companion pony. Shown under the name of Colour by Numbers she always did well in the M&M classes including being 2nd at the CHAPS National show when it was at Stoneleigh. Over the years she also taught many children to ride and had great fun winning jumping classes as well as being an excellent gymkhana pony! She was broken to harness which she thoroughly loved and even competed in a scurry class, finishing 3rd which she thought was fantastic!
She spent some time on loan to
Maggie went hunting with the Warwickshire and was a great favourite with them. You name it, she did it picnic rides, Pony Club camp, family parties -Maggie was always in the thick of it!
Her latter years were spent with good friends at their Thoroughbred stud where she taught their daughter to ride as well as keeping the broodmares company.
Maggie brought a lot of joy to a lot of people and she will be sadly missed.
Hussar enjoying the freedom after a long winter.
Life at Sycamore Farm!
Hussar is maturing nicely - standing at 15.1hh at 11 months. I think he will make up into a nice horse in due course.
Fair Oaks is a cracking filly and I have a real soft spot for her!
Two fat ladies - Florianne and Florida enjoying the sun.
Deep King babysitting Hussar!
Inger Bugge and Sir Cisco won their first qualifying competition for the German Bundeschampionate in eventing with the score of 8,9 points. He won 1st place out 75 horses in the class.

Fairfax and Fair Oaks amusing themselves on the school!
Sandhurst is preparing for his licensing in May in Australia. He is enjoying his loose jumping which is part of the preparation.
Lillian Strand, Sir Cisco's owner, had a fabulous coloured filly on 27 March. She is called ML Made For Fun by Sir Cisco out of Flin Flon (Faschingsprinz - Samber - Regress - Porter - Zottie). The filly is of the fabulous Zottie family line. Her half sister ML Fit For Fun out of Flin Flon by Flovino (Florestan I x Apart) is for sale - Stutteri-ML for details.
Sir Cisco gained his Lifetime Approval with the Norwegian Colour Association. He was also awarded Premium stallion status as was placed 1st out of the 15 stallions presented.
Sir Cisco was awarded a lifetime approval with the Norwegian Sports-Pony Studbook as a Premium stallion. They want his bloodline, type and character to produce some really good ponies for the studbook.
His scores were: 8,5 body/type, 8,5 walk, 8 trot and 8,5 canter. Loose jumping 8,5 8,5 8,5 9. Ridden test 8,5.
Sir Cisco will go to
The mares are very well and are certainly slowing down as their pregnancies develop.
Robert and Deep King had a great day out with the BSV & Mendip at their joint meet at Ston Easton. Bourbon, always one for a party also had a great day following!
Into the New Year and at least the snow has gone, for now.
The mares are now reaching their seventh month of pregnancy so it is lovely to look forward to spring and the foals by Royal Classic and St Moritz Junior that they are carrying.
Florianne and Florida "chilling" on the school
2011 has arrived and it is time to think about foals for 2012. Which stallions to use, that is the question?!?

Hussar is growing into a lovely young man with manners to burn, I hope come spring he still remembers them!
